Otro de los activos predilectos a la hora de diversificar la inversión. Los cuadros, esculturas y demás piezas artísticas pueden emplearse como elemento de decoración hasta que sea el momento propicio para venderlas.

  

Un ejemplo del efecto positivo que el paso del tiempo ejerce sobre estos elementos lo encontramos en Damien Hirst: en 2008, en plena crisis financiera, recaudó casi 200 millones de dólares con la subasta de 223 obras suyas. Igual que con el vino, existen un buen número de fondos con los que invertir en arte, como el Castlestone Management's Collection of Modern Art Fund.

China es ahora el número 1 en términos de ingreso de arte de subasta. Pasa al primer puesto desde el tercero en tan solo tres años, desbancando a Francia, Reino Unido y EE.UU. siendo éstos dos últimos los primeros desde los años 50.

Además, había 4 artistas chinos en la clasificación entre los 10 primeros de artistas globales por ingresos de subasta hacia 2010 (contra 1 en 2009), el más bajo,  generó 112 millones de dólares durante el año. Baishi QI estaba en el segundo plano detrás de Andy WARHOL y delante de su compatriota Daqian ZHANG; Beihong XU tomó en sexto lugar el lugar con un total de $176m y Baoshi FU era noveno. La generación joven de artistas chinos es ahora aún más imponente  que sus más viejos colegas: Más de la mitad de los 10 primeros 2010 globales de artistas contemporáneos son de origen chino (Fanzhi ZENG, Yifei CHEN, Yidong WANG, Xiaogang ZHANG, Xiaodong LIU y LIU) comparados con solamente tres Americanos (Jean-Michel BASQUIAT, Jeff KOONS y el PRÍNCIPE de Richard).

El tríptico de Zao Wou-ki marcó un récord en 2005, al ser vendido por 2,3 millones de dólares.

El corazón del mercado ahora se sitúa en Beijing, Hong Kong y Shanghai, las nuevas fuentes y conductores del mercado global de arte. En 2010 la galería Sotheby el ingreso de Hong Kong ascendió entorno el 2 %. Al mismo tiempo, en 2010 Cristie's el total de Hong Kong era el 2,5 %.

China no sólo tiene la fuerza económica (el segundo poder global en 2010) aumentó su mercado de arte y proyectó su cultura en el mundo entero, pero el sector de arte de China se ha beneficiado del apoyo de su gobierno y de los colectores chinos que son tan patrióticos y dispuetos para invertir dinero. China ha entendido el Poder de Arte en la historia de naciones. Además, el número de registros de subasta para materiales gráficos chinos está obligado a aumentar como el número de ascenso de millonarios chinos en el 20 % por año hasta 2014 contra el 5.6 % p.a. para el resto del planeta.
